PLAY LACROSSE
Each player must register with HYLO and GBYLA. Please follow the steps below. Once you're registered, click the links to find equipment you'll need and how to get started practicing at home! If you have more questions about registration and getting started with lacrosse, please contact HYLO!
1
USA Lacrosse Membership
Each lacrosse athlete, coach, and referee must have a USA Lacrosse membership. This membership provides insurance for all lacrosse programs and is required to participate in the GBYLA program. Click here to begin. New players to HYLO will receive a discounted registration to cover the cost of this membership!
2
HYLO Registration
HYLO is using a multi-step registration for 2026. This provides for ease of communication from HYLO and allows families to spread out the cost of registration. To register one child from your household, click here. To register multiple children from your household, click here. If you have questions about registration, email HYLO.

GBYLA Registration
The Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association governs the 100+ teams from 8u through high school. They work with each community program to provide quality lacrosse activities in the area. GBYLA fosters the growth of lacrosse throughout Birmingham. Click the link below, locate the appropriate age program, and follow the steps to register.
Practice at Home
Just like any sport, the more you work at home, the better prepared you'll be for practice and games! Wall ball will help your athlete develop the stick skills they need to succeed!
Private Coaching
If you are interested in taking your child's game to the next level or augmenting what they learn in practice, consider private coaching! Click here to meet two talented lacrosse players who are excited to grow the game!
Download LeagueApps
We use LeagueApps to communicate with teams throughout the season. Coaches will use this to provide practice updates and game schedules. You can find LeagueApps in your app store!
What does your registration pay for?
When you register your player, you'll pay a fee based on the GBYLA base fee and the Community Program Fee. These fees provide referees, field space, coaching training & equipment, league operations, and tournament expenses. It does not include player equipment or uniforms. HYLO is working hard to remove the cost barrier for new players. If you're interested in becoming a sponsor, click here. We also have a lacrosse equipment buy, sell, & trade group on Facebook.
